Established in London back in 2016, Woo Tea have expanded and recently opened up right in the heart of the city’s Chinatown on George Street, and my word – if you’re a fan of bubble tea and sweet treats – you’re in for good time!

We took a trip down last week to speak to owner Xiang and find out just what makes Woo Tea any different than the other bubble tea joints you can find in town.

The first thing you’ll notice when you walk into Woo Tea is the décor; it’s fun, it’s vibrant and it just feels a lot more “high-end” than other places, and indeed – Xiang wants the experience to be of the highest of quality – which is then reflected in the teas and treats themselves.

The store proudly shows all of the fresh fruit out in the open, for everyone to see. Xiang is keen to stress that they only use “the freshest and highest quality ingredients, unlike many of the other powder bubble tea places in the city.

What’s more, Woo Tea cook the tapioca pearls – the bubbles – every 3 hours, ensuring that they’re always fresh and that they don’t turn sour and ruin the taste of the teas.

Easily the best seller is the Watermelon Woo Tea (which is only 120 calories!) but there’s A LOT of choice on offer. There’s a diverse and innovative menu, featuring often exotic fruits, such as Red Dragon Fruit, which is only available when Xiang is able to source it in the UK.

We tried a few absolute beauties, including a wicked Milk Foam Mango Kiwi Fruit with Jasmine Tea, as well as a Milk Foam Honeydew Melon Tea and the classic Purple Sweet Potato Milk Tea.

You’ll also find a range of Milk Foam Fruit Teas, Fresh Milk with Peals, Matcha Teas, Iced Lattes, Smoothies and loads more. There’s even Handmade Jellies and Croissants on offer too!

One of the must-have treats on the menu is their very popular Molten Lava Cake – a gooey dessert that is only available on Mondays and Thursdays each week. There’s always a new one to try, from mango to matcha, to something a little bit different, such as their Black Sesame Cake.

Even if you’ve never tried Bubble Tea before, or if you’re an absolute veteran – Xiang will have something new and different for you to try. Head on down to Woo Tea in Chinatown to give it a go!
