Group Therapy Comedy Club is a brand new monthly comedy night opening on Saturday September 29th at Gorilla on Whitworth Street West, Manchester. Unashamedly bold, Group Therapy Comedy Club aims to put comedy back in its natural habitat.
Long time show producer and promoter Rosalind Bell (who has worked with the likes of Milton Jones and Phill Jupitus) has teamed up with promoter Michael Clapham (who has promoted tours for Todd Barry and Adam Buxton) to put on Manchester’s only weekend comedy club, by comedy fans, for comedy fans.
Group Therapy Comedy Club is the first weekend comedy club in Manchester to ban large single sex stag and hen parties. “Other weekend clubs rely on stags and hens to fill their seats and spend at the bar. But they can spoil the night for everyone else, including the comedians.” Says Co-founder Rosalind Bell. “It’s a bold move, but we put the comedy first and we’re confident that audiences will respond to that.”
The first show is on September 29th and features:
Andrew O’Neill
“A natural optimism and love of silliness that leaves you feeling remarkably positive.” – The Guardian.
Dave Longley
“Proves that comedy can say something important and, crucially, still be funny.” – The Metro.
Alun Cochrane
“An effortlessly funny performer… he makes the whole comedy thing look deceptively easy.” Chortle.
