This year will see an extra special celebration of Manchester’s incredible food and drink scene as the whole industry comes together to mark 25 years of the city’s original food festival.
The MFDF team is busy curating a programme that celebrates the best of the last 25 years as well as looking to the future. The Festival will showcase the most innovative and exciting food talent in the region right now; celebrate the incredible journey that Manchester’s food and drink scene has taken over the last 25 years; and explore what the next quarter-century will hold.
The 25th anniversary Festival Hub will be the biggest yet as it continues its annual residency on Cathedral Gardens from 15th – 25th September. The free to enter, pop up food and drink village will include a huge 25th anniversary beer bar, wine and gin bar, street food, artisan food market, masterclasses, banquets and live music.
There will be more events taking place outside the Festival Hub in 2022 as MFDF plans to bring a packed programme of activity to restaurants, bars and extraordinary venues across Greater Manchester. There will be a focus on bringing back some of the best events and chefs from the past 25 years and an extra special programme of pillar events with one Festival spectacular planned for each night of MFDF.
Sustainability will also be a key focus across the entire Festival as MFDF plan to make this the most sustainable festival yet. Panel talks, zero waste and budget cooking classes and a completely plastic-free Festival Hub will all be focused around recycling, reducing and reusing.
Restaurant, bars, chefs, operators, makers, bakers and innovators are all invited to and MFDF is asking anyone who wants to be part of this milestone event for the city to contact hello@foodanddrinkfestival.com
Commenting on the 25th Festival, Founder Phil Jones said: “We’re proud and excited to be presenting the 25th Anniversary Manchester Food and Drink Festival. I can honestly say when we started the Festival 25 years ago we could never have imagined what was to come for the city or the event itself. This year’s Festival will be about celebrating that progress and looking ahead too… From restaurants who took part in the very first MFDF to some of the hottest new talent, it’s going to be a superb Festival for everyone”
The MFDF Awards will be taking place on 26th September at a venue to be announced.
