Who doesn’t love a dumpling or seven? No one. Thankfully, there’s a traditional pierogi festival happening in Manchester next week.

The Polish dumpling-a-thon will be happening courtesy of Platzki, the Deansgate restaurant, on September 27 and 28.

In past years, the festival, taking in pierogies of all stripes, has seen roadblock queues of dumpling fans descending on the restaurant en masse.

This year, owners are suggesting people get down early to avoid disappointment, because when they’re gone, they’re gone.

They’ll be coming with a huge variety of fillings, ranging from the meat-tastic via vegan and vegetarian to sweet for pudding.

The ‘Kaczka’ is filled with slow-cooked duck and a fresh plum sauce, while the ‘Karkowka’ is stuffed with roast pork and roasted vegetables.

Among the choices for vegans and veggies, there will be the ‘Fasolka’, filled with crushed butter beans, roasted tomatoes and roasted peppers.

Rounding things off will be the ‘Slodkie’, a sweet Pierogi with cottage cheese, vanilla sugar and blueberries. The pierogies will also be available for takeaway to cook at home.

There will be other Polish delicacies on offer too, including Zurek, a sour rye soup with sausage, bacon and potatoes, and Kielbasa, fried smoked sausage with onions.

Dumplings will be served from 5pm on both days, until they run out.

Platzki is at 229 Deansgate, Manchester M3 4EN
