Five restaurants in Greater Manchester have been named as some of the best places to eat in the UK, according to new data.
The annual report by reservations giant OpenTable collated reviews of restaurants across the country, using dining metrics including ratings, reservation numbers and star reviews to decide the top 100.
A handful of popular eateries from the boroughs made the cut, ranging from fine dining spots to casual cafes.
Renowned Chorlton tapas dons Bar San Juan was included in the top 100, alongside controversial Prestwich restaurant Karen’s Diner.
In the city centre, gourmet spots The Ivy Asia and steak specialists Hawksmoor feature, with comparative newcomer Higher Ground also making the list.
Despite only opening in February this year, the bar and bistro on New York Street has already bagged a Michelin Guide nod and shining reviews from foodie writers.
The Ivy brand launched its Manchester branch with fanfare in the trendy Spinningfields spot in 2018.
Fellow London import Hawksmoor opened around the corner on Deansgate in 2015, bringing its award-winning steak to the historic Grade II-listed Courtside building.
Over in South Manchester, the ever-popular Beech Road spot Bar San Juan has been turning out authentic Spanish dishes for the last 13 years.
Heading North, viral restaurant Karen’s Diner opened in Bury last year.
The interactive dining experience, where staff are purposefully rude to guests, has proved a hit on social media, and attracted famous faces including Kym Marsh and Davina McCall.
