Much-loved late night tiki bar and party spot The Liars Club will serve its last flaming cocktail on New Year’s Eve.

The Bridge Street bar, beneath the equally renowned Crazy Pedro’s, is set to close after 12 years, its owners have announced.

“And so, we come with news that The Liars Club will be closing after twelve years of Tiki, as of the 31st December,” they said in announcement on Instagram.

“She’s had one hell of an innings – hundreds of thousands of zombies, tonnes and tonnes of cinnamon and many a hangover inflicted.”

The bar was known for its wild parties, cocktails served in pineapples and coconuts (often while being ignited) and a heavyweight soundtrack of rap, hip-hop and R&B.

Owners confirmed that it will be used as a private hire venue in the future, but will cease to be a walk-in bar.

Ongoing employment will ‘guaranteed’, they added, with Liars Club staff being relocated to the other venues in the Liars Group’s portfolio of bars and restaurants, which includes the likes of Pedro’s, Cane and Grain, Science and Industry and the Bay Horse Tavern, as well as Junk Yard Golf.

“Come and join us for a zombie, or two, over the next couple of weeks and one hell of a NYE party at the end of it to send her off in style,” they added.

“Thanks for everything – Team Liars.”
