From Friday 7h March until Wednesday 2nd April, Manchester illustrator Dominique Byron will be exhibiting her first solo collection, Conspiracy Theories, at Kosmonaut in Manchester’s Northern Quarter.
The illustrations, bespoke for Kosmonaut, are an exploration of Dominique’s fascination with conspiracy theories, from the extreme to the obscure and ridiculous. The artworks depict notorious, universal cover-ups as well as more localised, unknown conspiracies.
Dominique said, “I like to use my illustration projects as an opportunity to learn and explore subjects I’m interested in. Conspiracy Theories is a theme I’ve wanted to explore for a while, and has proved more interesting and thought-provoking than I could have imagined.”
The artworks are all digitally printed illustrations, depicting phenomena such as Area 51 and chemical trails, using scanned papers and textures to give each artwork another dimension.
Dominique’s first solo exhibition comes after a successful two years in Illustration, which include working on projects as diverse as film posters and album covers to children’s books. Dominique is now Creative Assistant to acclaimed Manchester illustrator, and former exhibitor at Kosmonaut, Stanley Chow.
Dominique is also co-founder of illustration collective Foursight, whose first print book ‘VS’ was published in 2012 to exceptional reviews from Creative Review and Digital Arts, to name a few.
Conspiracy Theories, illustrated exclusively for the bar, launches with an evening view on Tuesday 11th March. Kosmonaut’s own Pasta Paul will provide the soundtrack, with drinks upon arrival.
