If you’re unsure of the name, allow us to explain. Damò is Roman slang for ‘something that just happened, or happened a while back’. When in Manchester, it’s also one of Altrincham’s most beloved Italian restaurants, which looks to create an elevated experience by offering diners a chance to really dive into a culinary journey through the Old Country’s authentic recipes, customs and flavours. Run by three brothers who hail from the Marche region, and specifically the Adriatic jewels Ancona and Macerata, the trio have brought their family traditions, vast culinary knowledge and extensive hospitality experience to Altrincham. And all the better for it.
The team at Damò pride themselves on attention to detail, and this goes for everything from prep to picking the freshest possible ingredients. Only the best items are used, and this is clear in the flavours that come out of the kitchen, a hybrid of English and Italian staples.
In contrast, grab a table in the evening for more of a classic take on southern Mediterranean cuisine. Start with Suppli Zucca — fried rice balls with butternut squash, leek, and parmesan with truffle honey — or Beetroot Salad, savour homemade pasta via a plate of Signature Lasagna, Gnocchi Prawns, Pappardelle Porcini, or Tagliatelle alla Papera, share a House Pinsa (best described as a ‘cloud like pizza’), then move to dessert. Semifreddo Tiramisu, anyone? How about Tortino al Cioccolato, or Millefoglie? Finally, an excellent wine list is on offer, although given all the above that should probably go without saying.
