Cocktails are already a pretty luxe situation, but The Midland Hotel is going a few steps further than anyone else.
Their new cocktail masterclasses are honing in on some of the most premium brands and spirits available, making this a properly high-end experience.
Taking place in the grand surroundings of the hotel’s Mount Street Dining Room & Bar, they’re offering two classes: the Luxury Masterclass at £70pp, and the Reserve Masterclass, at £110, with latter option taking the crown as the most expensive cocktail masterclass in Manchester.
Of course, there’s a reason for this. Using premium spirits like Don Julio 1942, Johnnie Walker Blue Label and Ron Zacapa XO, what you create in the masterclasses will be elevated far above the average cocktail.
As well as learning about the various drinks, ingredients, and methods of mixing, you’ll also have a lot of fun along the way, with host Angus making sure you learn a lot but in a way that doesn’t feel like a traditional class.
For example, it takes a full six minutes to make a proper Old Fashioned – so if anyone ever tries to rush one for you, you’re not getting the real deal.
But it’s worth the high price tag. It includes four cocktails usually costing between £20 and £40 each, and the new Mount Street bar snacks are also included in the ticket price, with vegetable crisps, pork belly and smoked bacon jam, and black pudding bon bons on offer.
If you just fancy popping in to try their impressive cocktail menu, they’re keen to stress that Mount Street is a proper bar that’s open to everyone, not just for hotel guests.
The masterclasses are taking place every other Thursday and Friday for groups of up to eight, with the first Luxury masterclass taking place last Thursday, May 30th.
All masterclasses start at 6:30pm and will run for 1.5 hours if you choose to make three cocktails, or two hours if you make four cocktails.
You can book by contacting The Midland directly.
