A lot has been said about Manchester over the years, and plenty about sporting, political and music histories. Home to the “kids with the best record collections” and an anthology full of significant social movements,  the city has also been a self-styled fashion capital for as long as we can remember, looks evolving from a melting pot of cultures, trends and moments, but consistently, undeniably Mancunian. Today – HIP has a lot to answer for in that — a curated clothing boutique that stocks classic and contemporary brands, and always looks to shine a light on local talent that resonates with the team.

There couldn’t be a more fitting location for The HIP Store’s Manchester location. The Northern Quarter, and Thomas Street in particular, has long been shorthand for eclecticism as art, tunes, food, and drinks, with garments and threads another cornerstone of that identity. Step inside from all that, and at HIP you’ll find a beautifully designed shop with items displayed as priceless works in their own right. Built on the keen eye of its staff, the idea is simple: “We introduce our audience to considered styles, craftsmanship, and the unique storytelling that underpins our roster of brands.”

By that, they mean experimental names such as AURALEE and AFFXWRKS, visvim and Martine Rose. Streetwear by Carhartt WIP, Needles, Awake NY and Patta. Modern function from ROA and Nanamica. Timeless lines by Engineered Garments, Beams Plus, and Universal Works. HIP also boasts a strong sneaker and footwear game featuring sporting heavyweight such as New Balance, Nike, and ASICS, and lifestyle icons such as adidas Originals, Clarks Originals, Paraboot, and Birkenstock. With regular events celebrating key products, campaigns, and projects, partnering with international giants and Manchester-born independents, this is way more than just a shop.
