It seems that in the past few years, the idea of brunch in Manchester completely erupted and all of a sudden the city was awash with poached eggs, avocado and enough Prosecco to sink a warship.
And, yeah… I’m a bit bored of it.
But instead of curling up in an angry ball of pancake-induced hatred, I decided to set myself a challenge and hunt out all the places out there who are thinking a little outside the box, of which it turns out there are quite a few…
WowYauChow Chinese Bottomless Food & Drinks
Located over in Altrincham, WowYauChow is home to Chinese fusion cuisine, and they’ve introduced something truly magical – an endless lunch deal that features some of your favourite Chinese food and cocktails. The endless lunch option serves up completely bottomless food and drink for 1.5 hours and starts at just £23. You can create your own ‘lunch basket’, choosing a dish from three sections: dumplings, bao buns and rice/noodle bowls. The brunch menu includes a selection of Tofu, Pork & Chive and Buffalo Chicken Dumplings, as well as Bao Buns filled with the likes of char siu pork and crispy chilli chicken.

Indian Bottomless Brunch at Delhi House Café
Bringing the tastes and atmosphere of the Delhi Café scene into the heart of Manchester, Delhi House Café, as you’d expect, have a decent selection of breakfast dishes with an authentic Indian twist. Even better is that they also offer up a brand-new Bottomless Brunch option, where you choose from a selection of starters, a main and then get unlimited fizz, beer and cocktails for 90 minutes. Their Masala Chicken Scrambled Eggs are superb – go for them.

KBOM Brazilian Bottomless Brunch
KBOM Bar & Kitchen have launched their ‘Domingo sem Fundo‘, basically translated into ‘Bottomless Sundays’ where you can choose a starter, a main and receive bottomless drinks for 90 minutes for just £26.95 per person. There’s plenty of dishes on offer, including their classic Portuguese Bitoque – steak and eggs – as well as their signature grilled Peri-Peri chicken. For drinks you can choose from Portuguese lager (Super Bock or Sagres), Sangria on tap or a range of Brazilian Caipirinha cocktails.

Truly Bottomless Brunch at The Pen & Pencil
Northern Quarter, exposed brick-toting, bar and restaurant Pen and Pencil have decided to get in on the act by offering an All Inclusive Free Flow Brunch for anyone tough enough to want it. For £40 you can have as many drinks and as much food as you can stuff in your pie hole, although they are keen to stress that it should only be one drink and dish per person at any one time. So on the last Saturday of each month from 10am to 1pm you can head down and take advantage of this generous offer. The booze on offer includes the usual suspects of Prosecco, Bloody Marys, Mimosas, lager and cocktails.

La Bandera’s Spanish Bottomless Brunch
Our favourite independent Spanish restaurant have re-launched their bottomless brunch offering and it’s better than ever. For £32.50 you get their massive sharing platter of Spanish cheese and meat, 3 tapas and bottomless Cava or beer for 90 minutes. NAM’s Vietnamese Brunch
A true little gem on Cutting Room Square, slap bang in the centre of Ancoats you’ll find NAM, a family-owned independent Vietnamese restaurant and bar which is absolutely fantastic. Throughout the week and weekends they offer some pretty special brunch dishes, featuring such delights as their Breakfast Banh Mi and some Pandan Waffles which are ‘effing awesome! They’re available daily from 12pm until 4pm (11am on weekends).

If you’re celebrating something, or just fancy a very extra weekend, Flight Club has one of the most exciting brunches we’ve ever seen. Balearic Brunch Menu at Cottonopolis
A newly re-launched brunch offering here at Cottonopolis, one that combines the Balearic Islands, Japanese cuisine and a few flourishes of Manchester. There’s a packed menu of dishes, including Flat Iron Steak with a nori rosti, Dragon Rolls, Chicken Katsu Bao Buns and Karaage Fried Chicken, and for an extra £25 you can then have bottomless fizz or cocktails. There’s also a ‘premium’ drinks package which you can shell out for and you can add a Breakfast Martini or their Espresso Martini.

Mumbai Breakfast at Dishoom
Dishoom has the ability to seamlessly transport you thousands of miles from the streets of Manchester to a café in Mumbai. Even better, it even feels like time travel too – like you’ve stepped out of your DeLorean into the 70s and Indian brunch heaven. Their legendary Bacon Naan is, well, the thing of legend, but there’s also other superb treats on their menu, including an outstanding Keema Per Eedu – spicy chicken keema with eggs and toast.

Mexican Brunch at All the Shapes
All the way over in Prestwich, All the Shapes has been making ripples on the brunch front for a while now, so it’s probably about time you went to check what all the fuss is about. They serve Brunch from Thursday – Sunday until 4pm and their menu is extensive. There’s a new Mexican slant on the dishes on offer, such as the always excellent Huervos Rancheros – all done with an attention to detail which leaves many city centre establishments in the dust.

A Manchester institution, The Koffee Pot at the top of Oldham Street have been serving the great hungover masses of Manchester for absolutely ages now and they’ve got it down to an art. Kronuts at Albert’s Schloss
Albert’s Schloss has quickly climbed the ranks in the Manchester restaurant and bar scene to become one of our much-loved places to be. Their menu is something to shout about too, especially at breakfast time – if you can bare the noise of shouting on your hangover. Which you most definitely can’t. Anyway, brunch at Schloss is good, and you will be glad to know that it is a bit alternative in places. Take their freshly baked Kronuts for example. Is it a croissant? Is it a doughnut? Is it going to give me a heart attack? Nobody knows the answer to any of these questions- and nothing is more unique than the unknown.
