Erst have upped their Luch Deal especially for January and it includes the best sorbet I’ve eaten in my life.
There are two options, 3 vegetarian courses (£15) or 3 meat courses (£20), both are inclusive of a natural glass of wine or beer.
First up, both courses begin with the infamous grilled flatbread from Erst which is either served with gremolata (v) or whipped lardo which is just delicious slathered over a slice.
The vegetarian main course is a hefty roasted cauliflower served with nutty za’atar and tahini. It’s cooked leaving a good crunch and has that excellent chargrilled florets that make eating cauliflower worthwhile.
For the meaty main is just that, meaty. A large and flavourful Boudin Noir is served with radicchio agrodolce (a sweet and sour sauce) and garlic sauce. If you’re a big fan of black pudding then you definitely need to give this a try.
To finish is a refreshing and bloody gorgeous Pear and Gruner Veltliner sorbet.
The trouble with sorbet is the fact it can often just taste of fake flavouring. BUT finally, Erst have created an amazing pear sorbet that actually tastes of PEAR. Including chunky bits that are a pleasant surprise.
