The brilliant Black Friar pub in Salford turns three next month and to mark the occasion, the historic boozer has announced a special menu and birthday giveaway.

The 200-year-old pub and restaurant, which reopened in 2021 following extensive restoration, will run a special £33 menu, and give away over £70K worth of prizes for the whole of August.

During their birthday month, from 1-31 August, every visitor to The Black Friar will receive a free instant scratch card with their bill, with the chance to win their meal on the spot, free cocktails or vouchers.

Already a huge hit with Manchester foodies, the pub will also offer a special three-course £33 menu, curated by their award-winning Chef Ben Chaplin and his team.

Available from 5 August, Monday to Saturday, birthday dishes will include brand-new à la carte options, including harissa spiced lamb meatballs with mint yoghurt, toasted almonds and pomegranate; pork tomahawk and baked feta with grilled peaches, chorizo and peach jam; and Sicilian lemon tart with burnt buttermilk and lime sorbet.

To wash it all down, the pub have teamed up with authentic Japanese spirits brand House of Suntory, who feature on the venue’s cocktail menu, featuring the Coco Roku (a mix of Roku Gin, Blackfriars pilsner, honey, Angostura and lemon) and Suntory Spritz (a mix of Haku vodka, watermelon soda, mint, strawberry and lime).

You can enjoy something from the specially-curated drinks menu in the outdoor tavern, which has been transformed into a Japanese-inspired cherry blossom garden.
