Christmas wouldn’t be Christmas without a cosy festive film to enjoy.

This year, swap the sofa for the cinema and head down to Cultplex for a packed month-long festive programme of family favourites, alternative picks and hidden gems.

Part of GRUB’s spot in Manchester’s Red Bank area, Cultplex (formerly the Chapeltown Picture House) regularly serves up pop culture classics on the big screen, as well as hosting comedy, gaming and sports events.

They’re kicking off advent with a screening of Danny DeVito and Matthew Broderick’s modern comedy classic Deck The Halls, before a bit of a left turn to Norwegian Nazi zombie horror Dead Snow (at least it’s got snow in it).

Following that, there’s a huge array of different films to enjoy before Christmas day, as well as a standout showing of The Office Christmas Special (Parts 1 & 2!) They’ve even got permission from Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant themselves to show the classic, so it would be rude not to indulge in a bit of British TV history on the big screen!

They will also be hosting a very special screening of independently produced film Cold Wind Blowing, accompanied by a Q+A with directors Dionne Copland and Louise Weard.

Fear not, there’s some traditional flicks to enjoy too.

The Muppet Christmas Carol and Die Hard are firmly on the bill. Head down to Cultplex to enjoy a Christmas film (or three) from 2 December, grab tickets here.
