Home to a wealth of independent traders, Hatch is a fantastic alternative to your typical high street.

Fashion is one of the BIGGEST polluters, it’s an industry which needs to see change, and fast. Like many, I’ve recently been exploring new shopping alternatives in order to play my part (including @freemissionworld’s first-ever Swap Shop event – which honestly changed my life).

So after finding out that Hatch is set to host Manchester’s biggest sustainable shopping and lifestyle experience this March – I couldn’t be more excited!

One thing I love about Hatch is their honest commitment to sustainability. Their sustainable Christmas markets were MASSIVE last year – and went down a treat with everyone involved.

Hatch actually has a zero waste to landfill commitment and Bruntwood (the property company behind Hatch) places a strong emphasis on how they can be as green as possible!

Bringing the first-ever Green Living Markets to the city, this seasonal programme of sustainable markets will be kicking off this March – with Hatch becoming home to over 30 eco-friendly, independent brands for a full weekend.

Traders have been carefully curated by the team, with a range of fashion, lifestyle, luxury, home and beauty brands all pitching up there.

So, who can we expect? Well, there’s absolutely loads. But here’s a few I’ve got my eye on (including organic wine tasting and RUG making workshops!)

Expect fashion from the likes of Manchester-based brand Evolve Vintage – who will be bringing their stunning and upcycled rare vintage finds to Hatch’s Green Living Markets.

There’ll be beautiful Jewellery from local brand The Mountain And Me plus a whole range of homewares from the likes of Beeswax Wraps (eco-friendly handmade beeswax wraps which come in super funky patterns) and Yorkshire Blankets.

One I’m really excited to explore; sustainable beauty and bathroom guru’s, Zed Bees, will be bringing their low impact and affordable subscription boxes (complete with all your sustainable bathroom essentials!).

PLUS there will be a number of exciting sustainable living workshops running throughout the weekend! (which are ticketed and priced individually)

There will familiar faces on Sunday the 29th, with full-time Hatch residents Herbivorous hosting a Seitan Making Workshop from 12 – 2pm (a popular but difficult to perfect vegan meat substitute!)

Herbivorous have travelled the country with their award-winning vegan street food offerings, this workshop will see Robyn share her secret hints and tips for how to cook great seitan every time.

There will also be an organic wine tasting session from Hatch’s full-time wine experts Vin-Yard – who are fighting back to the usual mass-produced vino with their delicious vegan, organic and natural alternatives!

Of course, it wouldn’t be Hatch without a bit of a party.

Hatch’s outdoor terrace area will be hosting live entertainment ALL weekend to celebrate the Green Living Markets. With DJ Rick Donohue returning for an electric mix of funk and soul accompanied by saxophonist Dan Berry, immense performances from drag queens The Real Banksie and Violet Vogue plus live performances from a steel drum band, Art Brazil and much more.

What’s even better – Hatch is, of course, dog-friendly (!) – so you’ll catch me there with my Pup George.

Open and free to all – pop over and say hello!
