“The clubs we go to define our youth, to socialise, and experiment with who we are. They are spaces that open up the potential of a moment without judgement and pressure from society. A collectiveness of shared values in a parallel space to the world going on outside.”
This Saturday 2nd April, Leven on Chorlton Street will be hosting an exhibition on Youth Identity within UK Nightlife – put together by re. and Dance Policy.
The event will bring 5 photographers together to discuss and exhibit their own individual interpretation of what inspires them to capture these moments.
These photographers will include Alexis Gavan, a Manchester-based freelance photographer who shoots mostly analog between 35mm and medium format.
Her work shows vibrancy, enhancing raw moments visioned in the situation – an authentic and honest approach to capturing true emotions and energy within her work.
Also there will be Maddie Moore, originally from Southend-on-Sea but now based in London focusing on documentary and portrait style photography.
Capturing the atmosphere of the dance and individual personalities of the subject Madz shows exactly how the London rave scene is and the enjoyment that comes along with it.
To see more photography from Maddie and Alexis, head on down to the exhibition this Saturday 2nd April from 6pm.
