After a pretty turbulent year for independent grocery store, Bernie’s – it seems that all is thriving with its Altrincham space, as the shop announces the next workshop and food evening as part of its exciting calendar of events.
Taking place on Friday 16th September, the evening will consist of creating and eating, honing on the skills of its two founders, Bethan and Will. Bethan is a keen baker that was once part of Pollen Bakery’s roster of talented pastry chefs, and she’ll be leading the evening, teaching guests how to create the perfect fluffy brioche roll from scratch. You’ll prepare some delicious savoury and sweet buns to cook off on the evening, or to take home and cook at your own leisure.
Following the masterclass, Will, the other half of Bernie’s, will cook and prepare a huge family style dinner, while also providing a space to hang out and socialise after the class.
Will once worked at Wolfhouse Kitchen, a wonderful cafe in the heart of Altrincham, so you know the food is going to be great. Speaking of the event, Bernie’s said: “the last event was a really lovely evening and is a cracking way to start your weekend that’s full of educational fun.”
Bernie’s Altrincham store is located at 30 Central Way and houses food and drink from some of the best local, independent traders. Back in July, the store announced the closure of its Heaton Moor site, blaming the current rising costs for businesses as the main reason behind the closure.
The duo behind the store are now putting all of their focus on the brilliant Altrincham space, with more regular events being organised over the next few months. There are 10 places available at the event and tickets can be bought via direct messaging Bernie’s Instagram. The evening will run from 7pm – 9.30pm and costs £45 per person.
