Ancoats’ popular cocktail bar and neighbourhood eatery, The Jane Eyre has announced plans to open a brand-new space as part of Chorlton’s burgeoning Beech Road.
Famous for its curated cocktail menu and top-tier Sunday roasts, the bar and restaurant will also bring a small plates menu, alongside breakfast and brunch dishes.
There’ll be a big focus on seasonal ingredients with the restaurant’s Ancoats head chef, Jack Mullen leading the project.
Based on Ancoats’ Cutting Room Square, The Jane Eyre opened the doors of its original space back in 2018. Its name honours owners Joe and Jonny’s late mother, Jane and has grown to be a catalyst for creativity and cocktail lovers.
It then opened a space inside Escape to Freight Island serving up its own unique tipples, which will stay open alongside its other two bars.
Speaking to the M.E.N, co-owner Joe said: ““We’ve always fancied Chorlton as an area we’d like to open, so when we heard something was coming available, we were super keen to get in.
“It’s kind of similar to Ancoats in that it has a neighbourhood village feel. We thought we’d fit in nicely, and it’s a good next step. We’re changing the location of the bar, and the decor will change, so we’ll be putting our own stamp on the place.”
Jonny furthered: “We want to make the bar area a focus, so that people can feel they can wander in and sit at the bar and have a drink. We’ll have a bigger menu too. The kitchen in Chorlton is bigger than what we have in Ancoats. And there’s more families in Chorlton, so we’ll be catering more for kids too.”
The space The Jane Eyre will take over on Beech Road operated as The Parlour for years, which was owned by Coronation Street stars Rupert Hill and Jonny Booth. The pair also owned many other venues across the city, including; The Castle Hotel, and Gullivers.
More recently known as Suburban Green, the team behind The Jane Eyre are currently renovating the space that’s due to open its doors on Thursday 1st December.
