Ancoats bakery Companio is to open its first cafe in the Northern Quarter, its owners have confirmed.

The Radium Street bakery opened in 2019, starting out as a two-person operation. Their sourdough, focaccia and aesthetically-pleasing pastries quickly gained them a huge following, eventually growing to a team of 11.

Serving up some of the best sourdough bread, viennoiserie and cakes in Manchester, as well as supplying some of the city’s best restaurants, they also offer coffee and sandwiches to go.

So fans of their bakes and brews will be pleased to hear that they’re expanding, opening up a ‘new, larger cafe in the Northern Quarter this summer’.

Companio co-founders Neil and Baneta announced the news on Instagram, writing: “Our commitment to artisanal baking and the unwavering support of our loyal customers have driven us to this exciting milestone.”

There’ll be ‘an even bigger space, with indoor seating’ to sit and enjoy all their offerings, alongside their existing Ancoats site, which they’ll be keeping on.

While the location of the new cafe hasn’t been revealed yet, they added: “Stay tuned for more details about our opening. We can’t wait to welcome you in.”

We can’t wait either.
