Diecast has opened the next big phase of its development – a Brooklyn-style beer hall, which is being dubbed the ‘Fairytale of New York’, in a nod to the greatest Christmas song of all.

It’s the second huge room to open at the former foundry on Ducie Street, following the launch of the Leno Ex Machina restaurant, huge bar area and performance space, and beer garden over the summer.

It has been inspired by the large beer halls of New York, and will be serving up a host of festive-inspired gear.

The beer will be arriving in steins, while on the menu will be freshly baked bagels, bratwursts from the grill, and specially mixed Christmas daiquiris.

It comes as part of the venue’s ‘Winterhood’ transformation for the festive season, which will include a night market, hot chocolate, mulled wine, a rum punch cabin, marshmallow toasting, open fires and a band stand.

The venue has also transformed its beer garden caravans too, gussying them up for Christmas with nordic pines, baubles and tinsel.

Menu-wise, there are some new dishes to try too, including a lasagne dish, cooked ‘al forno’, and made with a ragu of dry aged beef shin and cured pork, with a champagne bechamel and parmesan.

There’s also sticky toffee pudding and fresh dough balls on the menu, joining the already established ‘Neo-Pan’-style pizzas and high-end burgers.

The huge venue, from the team behind Ramona and the Firehouse, is gradually expanding into its 250,000 sq ft of space in the former factory and metal works, after it first opened its doors in July.

Diecast is open Wednesday to Friday from 4pm until late, and Saturday and Sunday 12pm until late.
