The ‘New Music Collective’ will welcome both industry and music lovers for a night of bonafide fresh talent.
The Pen and Pencil is set to become the Northern Quarter’s very own music industry hub with the introduction of its first live music night, providing local music contacts with the opportunity to meet, talk and experience the talent of upcoming artists once a month. The ‘New Music Collective’ night in partnership with local record label, Scruff of the Neck, will start on Wednesday 7th September. Line-up on the night has been confirmed as Mancunian indie-pop act Fliss, electro-indie purveyors SKIES, Joy Division-esque guitar band Etches and cool Australian folk singer-songwriter Calan Mai.
The monthly New Music Collective is a movement spurred on by the desire to form a community amongst artists and people in new music. It is being piloted by some of Manchester’s key industry figures including Mark Lippmann and Dave Beech from Scruff of the Neck, Ben Ryles from Dot to Dot Festival, Radio X DJ Hattie Pearson and The Pen and Pencil’s very own Co-Owner and Director Dan Pollard.
Dan from The Pen & Pencil said: “The New Music Collective is a wonderful initiative that I’m excited to be involved with. As a music fan myself I’m very aware of all the great acts to come out of Manchester – it’s fantastic to be able to give upcoming talent a platform to perform here at The Pen and Pencil. Whether you’re in the music industry or are simply a lover of live music, you won’t want to miss it.”
New Music Collective at The Pen and Pencil starts on Wednesday 7th September. Entry is free and doors open at 7.30pm.
