As we get ever-closer to the end of the year, the parade of exciting new Manchester openings shows no sign of slowing down. If you’re looking for a new spot to kick off the festive season, there’s everything from a plushly refurbed pub in a former cinema to a contemporary European small plates place on Stockport’s Underbanks. Here’s the best of what’s going to open (and what’s just opened) in Manchester.

Archie’s Atomic – Opening 7 November

Remember when these guys were just a bright pink burger and shake spot? Us neither. Seems like quite some time ago. Their latest venture is a rollerskating rink and arcade out by the Trafford Centre. It’ll be chaos, and we can’t wait to try it.

Atomeca Wine Bar – Open now

From Dan and Joe Schofield, the brothers behind Schofield’s Bar, twice voted the best cocktail spot in the UK, comes Atomeca Wine Bar. It’s a spin-off from their Atomeca bar at the foot of the Deansgate Square towers, but transplanted to Spinningfields, and with some substantial added extras. This stylish spot will focus more on low-intervention wines and small plates – including regularly changing pasta dishes, excellent charcuterie, flatbreads. dips and oysters. But obviously they’ll do a mean cocktail or two.

Brio – Opening soon

Ancoats has been crying out for a dedicated pasta spot since the closure of Rigatoni’s earlier this year. Enter, Brio. Taking over the old Trove bakery space, Brio will be a bar and restaurant serving up classic Italian dishes.

The Bubble Room – Opening soon

Already a hit in Alderley Edge and Bramhall, The Bubble Room will be opening up a new location on Sale’s Stanley Square development. Taking the spot formerly occupied by Simon Rimmer’s Greens, it’ll boast a fantastic hidden roof garden, as well as the established focus on champagnes and sparkling wines. There will be fun events too, like pie and steak nights from this ‘friendly neighbourhood bar’.

Cantaloupe – Opening 6 November

We wrote about this one in last month’s new openings, but with an opening date now announced, we’re (still) extremely excited to try Cantaloupe, Stockport’s new European small plates restaurant, with cheffing talent from the likes of Where The Light Gets In, Mana, The Creameries and Campagna at the helm – via chefs Mike Thomas and Joshua Reed-Cooper . From glimpses on social media, we can expect dishes like Croatian-inspired pork belly skewers and ricotta ice cream with candied orange and lemon peel. A word to the wise: just book now and figure out who you’re going with later. Before you can’t.

The Egyptian Room – Opening 1 November

If there’s one thing us Mancs love, it’s a food hall. Joining a roster of spaces across the borough, The Egyptian Room opens in Oldham town centre this month. Located in the stunning setting of the grade two-listed Old Town Hall, the food hall will be home to Ply Loves Pizza, The Last Stop, Wings of Power and Kambuja.

Enish – Open now

Having established themselves with loads of beloved spots in London, Dubai and even on a yacht, Enish have opened up in Manchester. The Deansgate restaurant serves authentic Nigerian dishes like jollof rice and egusi soup, all soundtracked by their own Afrobeat radio station.

Fibber Magee’s – Open now

This Irish bar in Sale Moor is an import from, of all places, Dubai. Don’t let that fool you though, their Guinness is impeccable and the entertainment is, truly, entertaining. A cosy spot for a raucous Saturday night. Or any night, to be fair, and you can grab pizza from the truly excellent Ceresis next door and bring it in. While it’s not a particularly Irish flourish, it says much about the community feel of the place.

Get Baked – Opening soon

Viral cake spot Get Baked finally arrive in Manchester this month. Initially meant to be set up off Deansgate, the Leeds-based shop will now open in the old Live Well unit in the Northern Quarter. The bakery was made famous by their mega multi-layered chocolate cake known as The Bertha, inspired by the Bruce Bogtrotter cake in Matilda.

The Grosvenor – Opening 3 November

This 111-year old former cinema has been a raucous boozer for some years now, and its new incarnation as the Grosvenor shows every sign of building upon this. There’ll be sports and screens, happy hours and quizzes, and even an actual slide descending from the historic balcony. In terms of Oxford Road student-y boozers, we expect this one to reign supreme once again.

LI-LY – Opening 14 November

From The Commons to Restaurant Tom Aikens to launching Manchester House in 2012, celebrated chef Aiden Byrne is now unveiling his latest project. the crowd-funded LI-LY, a venture with his wife Sarah. In the heart of Knutsford, they’ll be using the best local produce to create intricate but accessible bistro dishes. We can’t wait for this one.

Little Scarfs – Opening 7 November

These fresh pasta connoisseurs made their mark operating out of the side of Altrincham Market, but fans of their hand rolled rigagnocchi or distinctive giant filled pappardelle swirls will be pleased to hear they’ve found a permanent (and indoor) location, right in the heart of Stockport on Petersgate. It’ll be walk-ins only, so prepare to form an orderly queue.

Meatworks – Open soon

‘Damn fine steak’ is the motto of Meatworks, soon to open on Circle Square, and which is billing itself as a ‘modern eatery serving steak house classics, bold small plates and iconic burgers’. Grand claims indeed. With a glut of meat-forward openings in the city in recent months – from Blacklock and Flat Iron to nearby Doug’s – it’s all to play for.

Nell’s Altrincham – Opening 22 November

After taking the city centre and Chorlton by storm, Nell’s – the NYC-style pizzeria from the minds behind Common – are coming for Altrincham. They are renowned for their vast slices and even vaster whole pizzas which are super crispy, as well as tongue-twisting toppings like ‘Ndu Y’Olive Me (Now That I Can Dance) and the signature Do You ‘Roni, Honey? Bar-wise, there are well-priced cocktails and local beers too. A highly-anticipated addition to the Alty culinary scene.

The New Cross Salford – Open now

From the people behind The New Cross in (Manchester’s) New Cross, comes The New Cross in Salford. Located in the Collier’s Yard neighbourhood opposite Greengate Park, this cafe and bottle shop also serves pizza and host regular markets. A proper neighbourhood gem and lazy weekend staple.

Soap Street Pizza – Opening soon

Levenshulme spot Nordie is about to flip its food offering, with owner Oddie McClintock and pal Harris Mouridis, formerly of Common, Gorilla, etc, spawning Soap Street Pizza, so named after the road on which they met while working together at Trof (aww). While most pizza is speedily assembled, Soap Street will be baked ‘low and slow, allowing the locally sourced ingredients to shine’.

Simmons – Open now

The legendary spot known for its outrageous deals and disco-centric interiors have opened their first spot outside of London, and it’s at the heart of Deansgate. Think live music, a karaoke booth and marathon happy hour. It’s also the home of new pizza spot Holy Slice Hot Pizza. If ever there were a place designed for post-work drinks, this is it.

Stow – Opening 22 November

This Bridge Street restaurant (located handily between Deansgate and Salford Central) is the latest venture from the minds behind Trof. Expect cocktails, wine and ‘fire-cooked’ food. In particular, a small, regularly changing menu of meat and fish, with more veg-centric sides.

The Trading Route – Opening November

A collaboration between Trof, Manchester Union Brewery, and Monton’s Wandering Palate, The Trading Route promise cold beer, hot rotisserie chicken, and a luxury larder filled with top-quality provisions. We can’t think of a better combo, and eagerly anticipate their arrival in St John’s, arguably Manchester’s tastiest new neighbourhood.

Worsley Coffee Co. – Open now

This gorgeous, converted church in Worsley serves up coffee, brunch and lunch. Not just a pretty space (though it is indeed that), we can’t wait to check out the Turkish eggs with harissa, yoghurt, poached eggs and toasted almonds. Time to add this church to your Sunday morning routine.
