City centre cafe – Factory Coffee – have decided to make this week their very own RUM WEEK and collaborated with a host of local bakers and makers for a week of boozy specials.
The cafe has teamed up with local rum company – Witch Kings – to create their very own Coffee Rum Liqueur, which has then been used by a whole host of their suppliers to create some pretty special treats – all of them available for THIS WEEK ONLY.
Factory’s Coffee Rum features their signature coffee blend, roasted by North Star Coffee Roasters and mixing together components from the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais, the Jinotega region of northern Nicaragua and the birthplace of coffee itself – Ethiopia.
Bringing it all together, Witch Kings have helped create a liqueur with rich caramel notes, a complex rum that is perfect for creating boozy bakes – from doughnuts to the legendary cruffin.
Kicking things off with DGHNT is the Piña Colada Pastry Cream Doughnut, featuring the Factory Coffee Rum and caramel glaze, Pina Colada creme, coconut flakes and lime zest. It’s the perfect mash-up of dessert and cocktail – all made from scratch daily by Sulin Baldwin in here Northern Quarter flat.
There’s also a Rummy Coffee Banoffee Pie, created by Factory Coffee’s very own on-site micro baker – Factory Bake – and using ingredients grown in-house and infused with the Coffee Rum liqueur.
Also creating a rum special this week is Flat Baker, who has devised a Coffee Rum Liqueur Cruffin, filled with milk chocolate and Factory Coffee rum and topped with white chocolate and coffee ganache. Known across the city for the quality and imagination of their cruffins, these beauties will probably go fast – so get yourself down there early doors.
Finally, not wanting to miss out on the baking side of things, Witch Kings Rum have actually created their very own Rum Cake, made using the rum liqueur alongside dark chocolate and Guinness.
