I have a mate. He will remain nameless. This fella works over in Ardwick, right near the Apollo. Every single day at around lunchtime he stands up from his desk, pops his wallet into his pocket, grabs his phone and walks to Kabana in the Northern Quarter for his lunch. Every day.
I’ve just Googled it and that’s a walk of 3 miles a day, 15 miles a week and 780 miles a year. He’s basically walking from John o’ Groats to Land’s End each year for kebabs and curry.
That’s how important and good they are at Kabana.
People will argue forever about which curry and kebab place in the Northern Quarter is the best, but most will agree that Kabana is certainly within the top 5, if not the top 3 – every single time. Personally, I’m more of a Cafe Marhaba guy but Kabana comes a very close second.
Their curries are the thing of legend, and anyone who eats one of their Biriyani dishes and doesn’t proclaim it to be one of the best they’ve ever tasted is a complete idiot. Go for the Lamb if they’ve got it – it’s truly outstanding.
Well, they’re open again and they’re offering take out, so if you find yourself in town – do the right thing and get yourself one. You won’t regret it.
