But that doesn’t mean I don’t want to feast. Oh no, I am going to eat myself silly this Christmas season, after all, isn’t that what it’s all about? I mean other than the whole baby Jesus thing of course.
My point is, I want something different this year, and so I am shipping myself off the Canary islands and heading down to La Bandera for some authentic Spanish flavours and enough tapas to sink The Nina, The Pinta and The Santa Maria this festive season…
This Christmas, La Bandera has crafted a selection of beautiful menus to suit every occasion. Whether it is their simple set lunch for £25, the £29 evening tapas menu or the set dinner menu for £35 – they really have all your needs covered.
You will begin each menu with a few nibbles – olives, artisan bread and aioli and an additional portion of mixed Mediterranean vegetables on the £35 dinner menu. Alongside a couple of drinks, these morsels of food are just what you need to whet your appetite for the things to come.
On the lunch and £25 dinner menu, the main event will focus around a selection of traditional tapas to share like chorizo cooked in red wine, cod cheeks cooked with peppers or the famous squid ink croquettes. With lunch, you will get a light dessert or coffee thrown in also.
On the £35 dinner menu, however, you get a little more. After the nibbles, you will enjoy your tapas – which will include Carrilleras De Cerdo (slow-cooked big cheeks), Pimientos Rellenos (goats cheese stuffed peppers) alongside a few other classics.
This will then be followed a main dish- and La Bandera has been kind enough to include some of their most famous and most delicious main courses on this set menu. I assure you, it is going to be pretty hard to choose between flat iron steak with mushroom and truffle sauce and the Pollo Asadores (grilled chicken with Mojo Rojo sauce) or the cod supreme with a chorizo crust.
Finally, for an additional £4.50, you can enjoy a coffee and dessert to round this delicious meal off. Choose from Crema Catalana, Turrones (Spanish shortbread), traditional Spanish rice pudding or the famous La Bandera banana cheesecake made with Canarian bananas – go on, it’s Christmas after all!
And it doesn’t stop there. Obviously, this set menu is designed with everyone in mind. You can enjoy these menus as a family, as a couple, a group of friends or even your whole office!
We know how stressful it is organising your Christmas party, so bear in mind, that if you book in a large group (let’s say… more than six people), La Bandera will give the organiser a £60 voucher to spend in January – call 0161 833 9019 to book now!
Delicious food at good prices and a fair amount of festive cheer – I cannot think of a single reason you wouldn’t want to be at La Bandera this Christmas season!
