Yum Cha, the city centre dim sum kitchen, is to open a second site in Altrincham.

It’ll be setting up shop in the Stamford Quarter’s new Foundation building, bringing with it some spectacular dumplings, roast meats, great rice dishes and stir fried noodles.

The first branch arrived at Kampus in 2022, and proved a hit, following its first sites in Liverpool and Warrington.

Adam Wan, founder of Yum Cha, said: “We can’t wait to open our doors in the Stamford Quarter and the Foundation building is the perfect location for us.

“We opened in Manchester city centre in August 2022 and after the phenomenal response from our fantastic customers, Altrincham seemed like the perfect place to expand.

“The Foundation building has created a brand new destination for eating and drinking within the town centre and we’re delighted that Yum Cha is now a part of the already burgeoning Foundation community.”

James Tootle, Head of Retail and Leisure at Bruntwood, which is behind the development, said: “Yum Cha’s decision to open their new restaurant in Foundation is a testament to the exceptional quality of retail and hospitality in the Stamford Quarter.

“It’s the perfect location for attracting visitors to the town from both the local community and beyond. With an already exciting and eclectic mix of brands, we are thrilled to welcome this fantastic independent restaurant to the heart of Altrincham. We are confident that guests will love Yum Cha’s renowned dim sum.”

Also opening up in the Stamford Quarter will be the Lane 7 bowling alley and Starbucks, with the Foundation building taking on the spot that was formerly the Rackhams department store.
