Back in May we reported on the launch of a brand-new food delivery service in the city, Foodstuff, and since then they’ve seen some impressive growth in the city, and even expanded their operation into the south of Manchester to Chorlton.

Foodstuff launched the service back in May 2020 in Cambridge as a reaction to what co-founders Toby Savill and James Perry deem “big problems in the industry“. In a very short space of time they found their unique approach to taking care of riders, customers and restaurants equally really resonated with their customers.

5 independent restaurants quickly turned into 20, and by the time they launched in Manchester in May of this year they’d done over 20,000 orders with ZERO emissions.

One of Foodstuff’s biggest USP’s is the fact that they are proud to be ‘NO CHAINS‘ – you’re not going to find Pret or Maccies on their books – just small, independent, quality businesses – that Foodstuff also ensure get a decent deal.

They offer a simple flat fee for restaurants instead of 35% like other delivery platforms and then the restaurant takes 100% of the cost for the food, and the delivery rider gets 100% of the delivery fee.

As a result you’ll find the city’s best independents on there, from Hip Hop Chip Shop in Ancoats, to Slap & Pickle over at Society, KBOM, Parmogeddon and Herbivorous at Hatch, Lazy Tony’s, Wholesome Junkies and loads more.

What’s more, they’ve also recently expanded into Chorlton, so you can get the likes of Proof, Four Side at Electrik, Jerk Junction and more, all delivered to you ethically, with zero emissions and safe in the knowledge that nobody is getting ripped off or taken for a ride.

Foodstuff’s meteoric rise in the city looks set to continue, and it’s music to our ears here at Finest. As champions of the city’s independents it’s great to see a viable, affordable and ethical solution to delivery for Manchester’s smaller operators.

Oh, and how could we not love being able to get a Lazy Tony’s Lasagne delivered to us in minutes?!
