Indian Affair, Chorlton‘s popular Delhi-inspired kitchen, is set to open a new restaurant in the city centre this month, in the former Rigatoni’s site on Blossom Street.
Pasta spot Rigatoni’s closed earlier this year, and now husband and wife team Harshit and Natasha Chopra will be taking on the well-located unit just off the popular Cutting Room Square.
Indian Affair first opened on Barlow Moor Road in Autumn 2022, and has become renowned for their traditional Indian dishes with a modern twist, encouraging guests to dine family-style, meaning everyone around the table gets to try a bit of everything.
The new Indian Affair venture will focus on small plates and thalis, with dishes served on an Indian style round platter, perfect for sharing.
Small plates on offer will include chicken tikka samosas, spinach fritters drizzled with yoghurt, tamarind and mint chutney, chargrilled lamb chops, and tandoori king prawns in garlic and garam masala.
The new menu will also boast traditional biryanis, rice and chutneys alongside freshly made naans, paranthas and rotis straight from the clay oven tandoor.
Indian Affair will also be open for lunch – an option exclusive to the new eatery, as well as takeaway. Lunch offers will include delicious filled naan rolls and loaded burgers and bao – all served with crisp masala wedges.
Elsewhere, on the bar, Cobra beer will be served on draft alongside a wine list, cocktail menu and alcohol free options.
Co-owner Harshit said: “We always dreamed about opening a city centre restaurant. We’ve been totally blown away with the love for our Chorlton site, and extremely grateful to those who’ve visited and made it a success.
“As a family, we enjoy spending time in Ancoats, exploring the restaurants and Sunday markets. Cutting Room Square has a community like no other, we felt it was the perfect space for a modern Indian restaurant.”
Natasha added: “Our small plate concept has been a great success in Chorlton. We know the demographic in Ancoats enjoy sharing food whilst socialising, so we hope the menu will be popular.
“We’re excited to try out our new lunch menu with Indian twists on your favourite lunch classics. We’re looking forward to welcoming you all very soon.”
Indian Affair will launch in Ancoats on Monday 16 September, with bookings available from Friday 20 September.
