Earlier in the week, MasterChef winner Simon Wood announced the return of his restaurant’s half-price Wednesdays in response to the cost of living crisis.
Now, the esteemed chef has launched a shorter version of his popular tasting menu, which features a range of incredible dishes.
Speaking of the menu, Simon said: “We have introduced a new, shorter version of the tasting menu for those that want to experience the very best of our menu, but on a slightly smaller scale.
“Whether diners have theatre or concert plans later in the evening, or would prefer to dine a little earlier, the shorter menu offers five sensational courses, and can be paired with a specially selected trio of wines to accompany your meal. At £55 per person (trio wine flight optional extra at £25), our shorter menu offers exceptional value.”
Making up the condensed list of dishes are the Marmite Milk Roll, Breads and Bacon, Orkney Scallop with Vegetables from the Sea, Anjou Squab with Woodland Berries, Madeira & Mirin and the Brown Butter Artichoke with Black Apple.
Known for a huge focus on seasonality and high-quality, locally sourced ingredients this menu allows diners an affordable glimpse into the creative mind of the MasterChef winner.
Each dish sees the chef pay homage to his Manchester roots, combining seasonal, delicious and authentic flavours. Commenting on his tasting menu, Simon Wood furthered: “The finest suppliers in the country provide seasonal, high welfare, foraged exceptional produce. Which will be treated with the utmost respect.
“Salt, milk, butter, vinegars, wines, oils, herbs and spices must be of the highest quality throughout the restaurant. Amazing produce treated correctly, as in the end, any dish is only as good as the products you are using.”
The new five course menu is available at WOOD Thursday to Saturday 5pm – 6pm.
