Another month, another stack of new restaurants, bars and cafés in Manchester to get stuck into, from contemporary British food in Didsbury to steak in the city centre, via a Brazilian tasting menu in a Northern Quarter pub.

American Pies Ancoats

The good folk behind Brewski’s sister site American Pies have secured their second location. Setting up at the old Second City site in Ancoats, they’ll be serving up their famous Chicago-style deep dish pizzas in the foodie neighbourhood very soon.

Did you know that Ancoats has a second square, and it’s a certified sun trap? Just off Murray Street, the aptly named Ancoats Deli is planning to fill a lunch-shaped hole in the Ancoats foodie scene. Grab-and-go sandwich staples (bread supplied by Companio, of course) will be accompanied by coffee, cheese, charcuterie as well as a small, well chosen selection of Martinis, spritzes and wines, to drink in, outdoors on the sunny courtyard, or to take home.

Bakehouse32

Taking over the Stretford Foodhalls unit, popular pizzeria Bakehouse32 are expanding, and as is their menu. As well as their ever-popular New York-style pizzas, they’ll also be serving pasta, sides, bagels and brunch too.

The Greater Manchester food hall domination continues. Bolton now has a food market right in the town centre with nine traders, including pizza, burgers, Indian street food and more.

Starting out life in a small but mighty unit on Ancoats’ Radium Street, Companio bakery specialise in artisan breads, pastries, sandwiches and coffee. With their new opening on Spear Street they’ll have bigger premises for their bakery and a full café set up for the first time, so you can sit in and enjoy their offerings.

Now this one has been in the works for quite some time (since 2018 to be precise). The restaurant chain which started life as a pop up above a pub is finally coming to our city, taking over a prime spot on the corner of Deansgate and Quay Street. Flat Iron‘s no-nonsense approach is captured in their slogan “great steak for everyone”, and we can’t wait to try some of that truffled mac and cheese.

A new addition to the food hall at Picturedrome Macclesfield. These guys are all about simple, good quality food, with delicious burgers, fried chicken and sundaes and no silly gimmicks.

The lavish Dubai-inspired shisha bar and restaurant has just opened in Spinningfields. The creation of Tajikistan-born boxer and social media influencer Abdu Rozik, Habbibi serve up middle eastern food and are invited to party or chill in the decadent surroundings.

Just opened on Piccadilly Gardens is HEYTEA, who describe themselves as the “OG of Asian Tea”. These guys are serious in the tea game, with about 3,400 stores around the world. And now there’s one in Manchester. Seriously eye-catching beverages which “revive ancient tea with a cool twist”.

This place opened in late June in the basement of the much-loved Manchester Buddhist Centre. Continuing the tone of balance and wellbeing, Hinterland offer an entirely alcohol-free bar experience which aims to cut out the awkward small talk around sobriety. They have loads of interesting alcohol free beers and spirits, as well as all your usual teas, coffees and soft drinks. Advertised as for the sober and “sober-curious”, we’re curious to check out this addition to Manchester’s growing low ABV scene.

Located in Manchester’s historic former train station – Manchester Central – Junction offers the city workers of the Petersfield area of town a new place to drink coffee, graze at small plates and work at their laptops, hoping to bring people together “all day every day”.

The Indian street food restaurant with elegant locations up and down the country is coming to Knutsford’s picturesque King Street. Pick from the street chat menu, or choose a tiffin box. The cocktail menu is something special too.

My Dear Bubble Tea is the latest city centre venture into the bubble tea game. The new spot on Chapel Street (just over in the border of Salford) is pouring a selection of hot and cold teas with a choice of toppings.

This one is a little further out of town, Handbridge near Chester to be precise. The epitome of minimal and cool, this coffee shop is all about beautiful coffee in beautiful surroundings. For serious caffeine heads, it’s well worth making the journey.

Oseyo

Huge Korean supermarket Oseyo is coming to the Arndale this month, making it the largest Asian supermarket in the north. It’ll be the place to go for noodles, dumplings, ingredients and dried foods, Korean rice wine and non-alcoholic beverages and loads more.

Yes, another one! Rudy’s continues its takeover of towns up and down the land, announcing their latest addition in Alty. The hugely successful Neapolitan slice slingers arrive in the newly refurbished One Central complex this month.

Run by Brazilian chef Caroline Martins, Sampa is an eight course tasting menu concept located inside Northern Quarter pub Calcio. There’s drinks pairings available and dishes include Smoked Chalk Stream Trout Carpaccio and Brazilian Cheese Bread. Not your typical pub grub.
