Tucked away in the basement of garden themed cocktail bar Alvarium is a brand new food concept. The restaurant, Black Leaf, is the brainchild of Alvarium owner Braddan and head chef Adam Leavy.
Diners can expect creative food with innovative flavour combinations and striking dishes. The full three-course a la carte menu features fresh and exciting dishes that all plant-based.
There’s the incredible vegan Scotch Egg made with creamed turnips, crunchy breaded outer shell and a slice of crispy toast to dunk in the runny ‘yolk’.
There’s also the deconstructed Black Forest Gateaux that is of course completely dairy-free and features a delicious layer of creamy and thick chocolate flavoured mousse with hints of peppermint and sweet cherries.
“It’s been great to write a full three-course vegan menu and hopefully really cement ourselves in Manchester’s vegan offering. I’ve been creative with flavour combinations in hope to bring something fresh and exciting to the city.” – Adam Leavy, Head Chef.
Speaking on coming up with the concept, Braddan said: “It’s been a difficult few months for Manchester’s fnb scene but Alvarium is back and better than ever with the much-awaited addition of our restaurant, Black Leaf.
“We’ve been wanting to do this for a while and took the opportunity to work on things whilst the bar was closed so we can hit the ground running. I’m excited about the growth of the business and can’t wait for everyone to try what Adam has put together.”
Alvairum regulars will also be pleased to hear the vegan cocktail menu that made name for itself in the 18 months the bar has been open will still be available upstairs along with some delicious bar snacks.
That includes the pretty famous chunky wedges that are served with chive mayo.
Black Leaf at Alvarium is now open for all your delicious vegan needs!
