Where The Light Gets In has made a name for itself as one of the best restaurants in the North West, and now, the team have turned their hand to baking.
Yellow Hammer combines the knowledge and passion of baker, Rosie Wilkes with the craftsmanship of potter, Joe Hartley and skills of Where The Light Gets In chef, Sam Buckley.
Their new venture opens this Saturday (14th May), serving freshly baked goods every day made from locally sourced, organic flour.
You’ll find every type of bread at Yellow Hammer, including hand crafted sourdough, tin loaves and everything in between – and their future plans are to bake fresh soups and other small plates to pair perfectly with the bread.
The team have designed the space so that it can constantly evolve, with everything from the tables to the sink on wheels – meaning that they can switch up the interior whenever they feel like it.
Two resident pottery artists will be taking over the pottery studio making unique kitchenware that will then be used in-store and also available to buy.
Everything from the door handles and tiles to the serving bowls will be made in the onsite pottery studio. The studios will be open periodically for workshops and if you fancy a nosey into the world of pottery making.
Yellow Hammer’s opening hours are Wednesday – Friday 10am – 6pm and Saturdays 11am until they sell out.
Operating later than most bakeries, the idea is that you can pop in after work to grab a glass of wine and a fresh loaf while you’re at it! They’ll operate on a walk-in only basis, so just rock up and take in the splendour of Stockport’s newest resident.
