The last few months have seen some serious rumblings both in the fried chicken world, and indeed the Instagram world as news reached the ears of many of a brand-new fried chicken concept – Kong’s Chicken Shop.

With a simple choice of one sandwich, a couple of sides and sauces – Kong’s aims to take the world of fried chicken back to basics, essentially re-inventing and improving on everything we know and have learned about it over the years.

The classic Signature Chicken Sandwich (£8.50) comes with crispy buttermilk fried chicken served on a potato brioche bun with pickles, chipotle slaw and Kong’s signature chunky burger sauce.

One thing that sets Kong’s aside from any of the other chicken shops you’ve ever been to is the fact that they include the best bit – CRISPY CHICKEN SKIN!

There’s even a vegan option available too, a marinated oyster mushroom (£8) served in a vegan focaccia bun and topped with vegan burger sauce and slaw.

The sides continue this level of simplicity – with a choice of three types of Mini Hash Brown – on their own (£3.50), Salt & Pepper (£4.50) or topped with a spicy hot Louisiana sauce (£4.50).

The whole concept is the brainchild of Tom Potts, extremely talented veteran over at COCKTAIL BEER RAMEN + BUN on Oldham Street, where you can pick up your Fried Chicken from THIS weekend.

Tom’s also working on new additions to the menu which you will be able to order over the coming weeks, but in the meantime – why not get yourself what’s being called “the greatest chicken sandwich” by many?

Kong’s Chicken Shop will be popping up this Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 12pm – 8pm, just DM Tom (below) with your order and preferred pick up time.
