Head down to Alderley Edge and you’ll find a new kid on the block – “the pizza bar with the little pink door” – Les Deux.
Serving up a delectable menu of pizzas, shares and sides – it’s been inspired by many influences from around the world, combining classic pizzas alongside some newer and more unique combinations that will set tongues wagging.
As you’d expect, all ingredients are fresh and locally sourced, including an array of fresh meat from local village butchers that are ethically raised and certainly more sustainable. The dough is naturally fermented for 48 hours, making it airy and light and the perfect base for some of the delicious toppings on the menu.
Must try dishes on the Les Deux menu include Truffle Shuffle (£13); a starter of truffle pesto injected burrata, Peachy (£11.90); a pizza with peaches on it that has been inspired by the owner’s granny and the Wag Gwaan (£12.50); a Wagyu beef salami pizza.
On the drinks menu, there’s classic cocktails as well as some European & Latino inspired concoctions – perfect to be supped alongside a pizza and some British charcuterie.
Mathieu Everson and Sax Arshad are the faces behind Les Deux. Combined they have over 20 years of experience in the hospitality industry and have independently worked with brands such as Mughli and Evelyns and The Daisy in the Northern Quarter.
Mathieu grew up with his family’s traditional Corsican cooking, which has a Moroccan influence including a love for spices, mixes and marinades, and slow cooked meats, and this has had a strong influence on the menu for Les Deux.
Sax, as the owner of already successful neighbourhood hospitality brands, brings his experience and strong passion for being an independent in a busy restaurant scene.
Mathieu said: “From our travels and background we’ve drawn up a menu with global influence to suit all tastes.
“We have a range of classics but then also a global section, which includes options like wagyu beef salami, crème fraiche and salsa verde, peach and lavender with speck to sticky beef and truffle.”
Sax added: “It’s about getting everyone involved and as an independent we can offer a relaxed and bespoke atmosphere.”
As part of their calendar of event, Les Deux have a regular night ‘Come As You Are‘ on the last Friday in the month, with disco, house music, 80’s tunes and hip-hop all night long.
