Italian restaurant brand Piccolino has unveiled its most ambitious site yet, with a huge indoors-outdoors ‘winterised’ terrace area, jaw-dropping decor and a solid menu of Italian classics.
Now open on Swan Street in Wilmslow, the new restaurant cost £2 million and will seat 220 diners across its bar, restaurant and terrace areas.
Inspired by the terrace restaurants of Tuscany, Piccolino Grande Wilmslow also boasts a huge bespoke pizza oven from Naples as a centrepiece and an airy open kitchen, as well as large cabinets where the restaurant’s enviable steak selection will be on display.
Among the signature dishes on the menu will be the classic ‘Bistecca Alla Fiorentina’, the famous T-bone steak synonymous with Tuscan cuisine, using Fassona Piedmontese beef sourced from Northern Italy, and prepared using the restaurant’s own on-site butchery.
This beast of a cut is best served with a Super Tuscan red from their sommelier-selected wine list which journeys through the famed Italian wine regions.
Also featuring on the a la carte will be whole sea bream ‘orata al sale’, cooked in a salt crust and then filleted at the table – and whole lobster served with samphire, garlic and parsley butter, and french fries.
The menu has been created exclusively for the Wilmslow restaurant and also includes the now-famous ‘carbonara grande’ – the signature fresh pasta dish which is made table-side in a giant parmesan wheel.
Inside, there are terrazzo tiles in marble and terracotta, a Carrara marble bar, and green terrazzo table tops.
Andrew Garton, CEO at Individual Restaurants; adds: “We’re proud to announce that the newest edition to the Piccolino family is now open in Wilmslow.
“Our passion for provenance and Italy’s diverse cuisine is the heart and soul of Piccolino and our commitment to sourcing the best quality ingredients from the finest producers has taken us to every region of Italy.
