Prestwich’s beloved Scandinavian restaurant OSMA has announced its closure on social media, citing the difficulties in ‘finding experienced staff’.

The restaurant was opened in 2020 by Danielle Heron and Sofie Stoermann-Naess, who quickly gained attention from diners and critics alike for their creative small plates, contemporary cocktails and outstanding roast dinners.

OSMA – which is named for their home cities of Oslo and Manchester – has been credited with helping transform Prestwich into a suburb known for its foodie offerings.

Danielle Heron (left) has also found fame on Great British Menu and MasterChef: The Professionals.

Heron and Stoermann-Naess have plenty to keep them busy though. OSMA operates a kitchen in the city centre, within Exhibition on Peter Street, and they have hinted at a new chapter in the city centre, saying ‘we have made the decision to move on to what we hope will be a more sustainable business that can grow, and allow us more time to follow our dreams’.

They thanked their staff for all their hard work and added that their last day of service will be Feb 9.

You can read the statement in full over on OSMA’s Instagram.
