The Americans never do anything by half. If you want a car – it has to be the size of a boat and guzzle more petrol than a gang in Mad Max. You want a house – it’s got to have 16 rooms, a pool, a BBQ area and a basement for a Cold War nuclear bunker. You want a day celebrating burgers – you get two, and a Cheeseburger Day on top.
Over here in Blighty, where we are a little bit more subdued, we only have one National Burger Day and it is next week. In preparation for this, pretty much every single establishment in town will be offering something a bit special to try to get you to head to their establishment and try their lovely, lovely burgers.
One such establishment is Brasserie Abode, who have a rather considerable burger on offer. Looking at the picture you can see that this thing is pretty massive – loaded with a thick prime beef patty, melted Gouda, crispy onion rings and bacon relish – all slapped between a shiny brioche bun. Coming in at £15.50 this bad boy ain’t cheap, but I tried one this week and it’s a beauty.
Although Brasserie Abode may not be your first thought when you think of burgers in Manchester, when it comes to National Burger Day next week – it’s definitely worth a try. Not only for the burger, but they are also running a pretty mint 2 cocktails for £10 deal – so you can get sloshed at the same time!
