Sale Foodhall, cherished dining destination and part of the General Store family, has announced its shock closure due to insurmountable rising costs. The popular food hall in Stanley Square will be shutting its doors for the last time on 2 April, 2023.

Since its opening in 2019 as a Groceries and Beer site, Sale Foodhall has been a go-to spot for Trafford residents, offering a unique blend of a convenience store with a rotating lineup of street food operators. In 2021, the venue transformed into the food hall concept, hosting a variety of fantastic food traders, such as Hanoi 75, What’s Your Beef, Waffle Kart, and Oh My Cheesecake.

In a heartfelt statement, Sale Foodhall shared the news of its closure, explaining that the “unprecedented cost increases” over the past year have made it impossible for them to continue operating sustainably. The statement acknowledged the tough times faced by hospitality businesses, independent businesses, retailers, and makers, and expressed their sorrow for being unable to keep serving the Sale community.

The closure of Sale Foodhall marks a significant loss for the Stanley Square redevelopment project, which has been home to a growing number of food, drink, and retail establishments in recent years.

The Store Group, known for revitalising town centres around the region with their unique venues, is now focusing on keeping their colleagues employed during these difficult times. While Sale Foodhall prepares for its closure, Stretford Food Hall will remain open.
