Six By Nico is throwing itself behind comfort foods like fish finger butties and ‘cheesy beans’ in its new tasting menu.
Called ‘Guilty Pleasures’, it will be presenting its newest six courses, taking in a range of childhood classics and indulgent dishes that might usually be found in the takeaway or the freezer aisle.
They will, of course, be upscale versions, so the fish finger butty is coalfish with a salt and vinegar hash brown, smoked tomato caviar on a toasted brioche polonaise.
The ‘breakfast muffin’, inspired by a certain high street chain, with a salsiccia bon bon, aged cheddar, truffle emulsion and an egg yolk jam.
Also featuring will be Six By Nico takes on fried chicken, mac and cheese, and, as a snack, ‘Cheesy Beano Croquettes’, made with smoked mozzarella, roasted tomato ketchup and Henderson’s Relish.
The new menu is part of its new ‘Versus’ menu series, where diners will be able to order from two tasting menus in August and September.
The Guilty Pleasures menu will be going head-to-head with its other new menu, the ‘Shanghai’, which will be showcasing the dishes of the iconic Chinese city.
It will take on classics like satay, pork belly pot-sticker dumplings, Mandarin spare ribs and steamed buns.
Andrew Temple, Chief Creative Officer commented on the menu: “This is a completely new concept for us at Six by Nico.
“While our previous menus have focused either on a concept or a destination for the full six weeks, we have been listening to our guests who have been missing on our theme menus but too, we have an abundance of those who love exploring new food regions with us and experiencing our interpretation.
“So, we wanted to challenge ourselves and give our guests the chance to decide which menu appeases them most – a menu of Guilty Pleasures through the eyes of our chefs, or a journey around the world to explore our interpretation of the bustling streets of Shanghai. We can’t wait to see what our customers decide.”
The Guilty Pleasures menu will available from 12 August to 1 September, with the Shanghai menu offered from 2 to 22 September.
Bookings for the Versus menus are open now, at the Manchester branches of Six By Nico at Spring Gardens and Deansgate. Each menu costs £42 with a wine pairing at an additional £33.
