Most well known for weekend debauchery, Manchester’s iconic Spear Street club, SOUP has a past of providing party-goers with some excellent food, too.
After a short hiatus, its kitchen has returned once again, and this time round, it could be its best yet, as Rainy City Ramen have rebranded to bring a curated constantly changing menu of unique plates and dishes.
Under the pseudonym of ‘Above Club’, the new concept’s menu is split into a four course format; butty, bowl, side and spuds – and those visiting can enjoy one of each or the whole hog, at a very affordable price.
Since the new concept was launched a few weeks ago, the club has seen the likes of katsu tofu sandwiches, rice porridge bowls with oyster mushrooms and rhubarb chutney, as well as smashed and fried spuds with a range of unique toppings all make the list.
Above Club’s menu is entirely plant-based, too, but offers all diners, meat and non meat eaters, a chance to explore brand-new tastes and flavours under the orange glow of SOUP’s neon signage.
This week, drawing inspiration from its prior ramen endeavour, Above Club has launched a ramen bowl complete with ramen noodles, a sesame broth, soy mince, tomato, spring onion, greens, pickled chilli and sichuan oil. The ultimate warming broth for an Autumnal evening.
With a location such as SOUP, you also know that there’ll be a cracking selection of booze and even better tunes, as the venue regularly hosts DJs in its main bar as well as its well known and loved basement.
Above Club’s menu is constantly changing, so if there’s something you like the look of – be quick!
The restaurant is open Thursday 4pm – 9pm and 12pm – 9pm Friday and Saturday.
