I remember around 15 years ago, after a rather messy and disastrous house party, that I was probably the first person to come up with a Roast Dinner Delivery Service.
Lying there with a raging hangover, house a mess, unable to move, I wanted nothing more than a proper big Roast Dinner, with some succulent beef, giant Yorkshires and tonnes of gravy – and nothing would have been better at that moment in time that if someone knocked on and brought it all to me.
Well, it’s taken 15 years and a worldwide pandemic for the idea to catch on, but those years certainly haven’t diminished the brilliance of the idea – and of getting a proper fit Roast Dinner delivered straight to your front door.
From the team behind the fantastic Bread & Bowl comes the launch of ‘THE ROASTLINE‘ – a telephone number that you can ring and they’ll bring you a mega roast dinner within two hours. Operating every Sunday between 3pm and 8pm (with last orders at 7pm), it perfect if you’re feeling a) hungover, b) lazy or c) both.
The Roastline Sunday Roast is made with the finest local produce, and comes served in a GIANT Yorkshire Pudding, complete with all the trimmings – tenderstem broccoli, roast potatoes, creamy mash, honey-roasted carrots and parsnips and stuffing.
You can also add optional extras such as garlic sprouts, pigs in blankets, cauliflower cheese or mac & cheese.
Each week you’ll have a choice of two meats, as well as a vegetarian and vegan option. The ‘house’ meat will be Rosemary and Lemon Roasted Chicken, with a weekly changing meat also available. For the first weekend it’s going to be lovely Roast Beef.
For vegetarians there’s a Goats Cheese, Mushroom and Caramelised Onion Wellington, while vegans can choose the wellington without the goats cheese.
The Roasts cost £10 each, with sides coming in at 3 for £10 too. They’re also doing a ‘Pay It Forward’ options, where you can buy a Sunday Roast for someone who is homeless in Manchester – to make sure that they have a nice warm dinner this winter.
It’s likely that these lovely roasts will sell out fast, so it’s probably best to pre-book your slot beforehand. You can do this right up until 1pm every Sunday.
