When it comes to roast dinners, Manchester knows its stuff. From Altrincham to Ancoats, there’s plenty of spots to indulge in mountains of roast spuds and lashings of gravy.
But did you know a much-loved hidden city centre bar has thrown its hat into the roast ring, too?
The Mews, tucked away behind Deansgate, is famed for its great selection of drinks, as well as delicious charcuterie, with small plates to accompany what’s behind the extensive bar.
Whilst it may not be the first place you think of for a roast dinner, we definitely approve of their Sunday service offering. After enjoying a host of rotating starters which change weekly, choose from roast chicken, beef or the vegan joint for your main.
All the trimmings are also up for grabs too – think roasted heritage carrots, cauliflower cheese, vegetable crisps and some of the biggest Yorkshire puddings we’ve ever seen on a plate.
It’s not just about the roasts here though. If you’re looking for something a bit extra for a Sunday, gather your mates and book in for The Mews’ epic cheese fondue.
One of the city’s best kept secrets, it involves melted Italian Fontina cheese served with homemade garlic croutons, sourdough crackers and slices of British charcuterie. The fondue is also available as part of a 90-minute bottomless package, where you can sip bottomless wine and/or the house pilsner whilst becoming more cheese than human.
