Hard Shell Tacos actually have a rather bad rep, basically due to the fact that during the 90s – Old El Paso were selling them in supermarkets across the land – and this was many people’s first real exposure to the wonders of Mexican food.
Over here in the UK we don’t have Taco Bell (except for that one in the Arndale Food Hall) and so pretty much most people’s experience of Hard Shell Tacos is making your own at home, which, let’s face it – aren’t really the best indication of what REAL Mexican food can do.
This week though, Hard Shell Tacos are making a comeback – ready to take on the (recently) more popular soft tacos – as Crunched Tacos head to Stretford’s Food Hall.
They’ll be there for the next 4 WEEKS – so you’ve got plenty of time to get your hands on these little crispy beauties – and they sounds absolutely incredible…
There’s their Pulled Pork Taco which comes with Pulled Pork Shoulder, Apple & Berry Salsa, Bacon Fries and a Strongbow Dark Fruit Sauce!
The Fried Chicken Taco – Cornflake Fried Chicken, Buttermilk Crema, Rice Krispies.
The Pulled Pork Taco – Apple & Berry Salsa, Pulled Pork Shoulder, Strongbow Dark Fruit Sauce, Bacon Fries.
As well you’ll find ‘The Duck Taco‘ with Peking Duck, Plum Sauce, Cucumber & Spring Onion, the ‘Beer-Can Chicken Satay Taco‘ with Peanut Butter Smothered Beer-Can Chicken, Spicy Peanut Sauce and Dry Roasted Nuts, and even a ‘Goat Taco‘ with Guinness Pulled Goat, Coffee BBQ Sauce and Chillies.
In addition, they also offer up LOADED Nachos too – topped with meat, cheese, guac, sour cream and any number of wonderful, sexy toppings.
