Skof, the restaurant opened by chef Tom Barnes earlier this summer, has been listed in the Michelin Guide, just a few months after opening.

It joins just a handful of other Manchester restaurants to be included in the world-renowned food guide, and likely provides a snapshot of what’s to come.

The restaurant, which opened in May, joins the likes of Higher Ground, Adam Reid at The French, Where The Light Gets In, Maya, Another Hand, Erst, ÖRME and Osma on the list of recommended eateries in the city, as well as Simon Martin’s Mana, the only restaurant in Manchester to hold a Michelin star.

Barnes has made no secret of bringing his Michelin credentials and wealth of experience to bear at Skof.

Prior to opening his first solo restaurant, he had presided over the kitchen at L’Enclume for chef Simon Rogan when it was awarded its coveted third star.

When it opened, he told Manchester’s Finest: “I’ve worked since I was 18 in restaurants that are either two or three Michelin star level.

“I did that for a reason. I’m using everything that I’ve learned in the past and putting it all into this. We will be striving to make it the best food we possibly can using all the best ingredients from the farm. It’s an amazing team.

“We’re in a good place to hit the ground running.”

The Michelin star ceremony takes place in early 2025, where all eyes will be on Tom and his team.
