Drag Race UK vs The World is currently streaming on BBC Three, which, to be totally honest, is the only thing getting me through these bleak February months. Seeing Pangina Heals take to that runway every week, and goddamn kill it every single time (the Vengaboys moment of episode three was nothing short of iconic), is making these water logged Wednesday’s a whole lot better.
Due to COVID, we’ve all had to miss out on experiencing these lip sync battles live and in person, and, after far too long, Drag Fest is back with an even better line-up of some of the best drag race phenomenons.
Held on Saturday 28th May 2022 at Bowlers Exhibition Centre in Stretford, this year you can expect a Main Stage, Dance Tent, Lip Sync Stage, Funfair, Market Stall with everything drag shopping-related, as well as the VIP Tent. 2022 will also host the Mega Tent, which will be dedicated for the artists meet and greets.
This year’s headliner is Brazilian drag queen and all-round pop superstar, Pabllo Vittar. Vittar burst onto the scene back in 2014, sporting a pair of perfect pins, accentuated by denim short shorts as she nailed one of Whitney Houston’s hardest ever vocal solos. Since then, she has established herself as one of the best in the game in a country with growing tensions and divisions around homophobia and hate crime. A true pioneer of music, style and modern-day drag culture.
Joining Vittar will be UK Drag Race royalty; Victoria Scone, Choriza May, Vanity Milan, River Medway, Ella Vaday, as well as other sickening UK talent; Anna Phalactic, Alexis St Pete, La Belle, Louis Cyfer, Mutha Tucka, Plastiq, Tyreece, Paige 3 and Prinx Chiyo.
There’ll be queens from across the pond joining the bill this year, too, including; Willam, Jujubee, Kylie Sonique Love, Icesis Couture, Ada Vox, Pick N Mix, Crystal Methyd, Detox, Roxxxy Andrews and Priyanka & Lemon.
There are still a few more additions yet to be announced to this year’s line-up, along with DJs and additional entertainment. The first release of tickets has already sold out, with the second release tickets costing £50.
You can also purchase the Squirrel Friends VIP upgrade for an additional £50, which will grant you queue jump when entering the festival, queue jump for any of your purchased meet and greet tickets and entry into the VIP tent with your very own private toilets and bar, plus 1 FREE drink token.
You can also bag the Super Shantay Gold Package ticket addition for £200, which will get you entry to the festival from 2:30pm (30mins before general public), as well as queue jump in front of the line of the festival.
You’ll also get free meet and greet with all of the acts and queue jump of all the meet and greet queues (not including the meet and greet with Pabllo). You’ll also get entry into the vip tent with your very own private toilets and bar, plus 5 FREE drink tokens.
