Less than an hours drive from central Manchester situated in the rolling Rossendale Valley on the edge of the Pennine Moors sits a beautiful little site comprising of luxury cottages and glamping pods.
I actually went over to Rossendale Holiday Cottages earlier this year and had a great time, the cottages are super cosy with all the luxury mod-cons, and for the slightly more adventurous there’s the glamping pods, they have outdoor loos, but the pods themselves are super cute and toasty warm.
The thing that struck me most is driving less than an hour from Manchester and yet being surrounded by open fields, walks and farms you could be literally anywhere.
To that end with our walking boots on we set off and did a decent circular up hill and down dale straight from the site which backs on to what feels like “the rest of the world” – all the while though being mindful to ensure we were back in time for pizza and beer from the on-site café.
Amenity wise there’s The Long Barn, a games room and chill out space and The Hayshed Café Bar stocked with all the essentials, pizza, gin, beer, tonic – what more do you need? Well I guess champagne and a hot tub, which if you let the on-site team know they will gladly prepare it for you!
As the evening wound in we lit a log fire down by the stream (in the outdoor BBQ and fire pit area) and with blankets supplied by the site, an ample supply of beers and not a care in the world we simply enjoyed the stillness.
Breakfast is served to the cottages and cabins with coffee, fruit and pastries and the only question left is which trail shall we walk today. The site offers guided walks, there’s plenty of mountain bike trails and rock climbing in the area too.

Rossendale Holiday Cottages does book up pretty quickly, a small family run business with a great offering is bound to be busy, so book in advance and honestly, you will love it.
