The Black Friar
You can hire any of the spaces in Salford pub the Black Friar but the newest and most exciting private dining experience is a gorgeous intimate space on the top floor of the pub called The Choir’s Loft. The space seats up to 16 people and has its own private bathroom. It’s the perfect hideaway for a special get together. If you need a slightly bigger space for a seated meal, the Sanctuary downstairs seats up to 24. All of these spaces can be hired for free on weekdays as long as you buy lunch but get in touch if you have other times in mind.

The Blues Kitchen
Manchester’s most soulful bar and music venue, Blues Kitchen can get a little intense when it’s packed at weekends. If you prefer the idea of dinner with your friends in a slightly quieter space away from the chaos before you head up and join in the partying, the Blues Kitchen’s private dining space is a great option. All decked out like a pirate’s secret meeting chamber with stained glass windows, brass light fittings and a massive table to pile burgers and wings on, this is the ultimate underground escape. Ducie Street has lots of options for private hire including several rooms that can be used for private dining. There are a number of beautiful, self contained rooms that seat around 20 for dining and you can also hire the main restaurant or terrace for a dining event that seats up to 100 dinner guests. Above the main public area in Ducie Street Warehouse sits the stunning Native hotel and you can also hire the penthouse apartments for small groups of diners.

The Fountain House
Situated on the edge of Albert Square, home to Manchester Town Hall – currently undergoing extensive renovation – the Thomas Worthington room at gastro pub The Fountain House is a private dining room worthy of all your period drama fantasies. Gusto
Housed within the beautiful Grade II listed Elliot House on Deansgate (which also happens to offer wedding and event space packages), Gusto is a classic Italian restaurant brand born in Cheshire with branches across the UK now. It has a beautiful private dining room with space for 16 guests. The space has large windows that let in natural light on one side and a smoked glass wall on the other side that looks into the restaurant. The large square table is complemented by a striking square chandelier that hangs above it giving a real special occasion feel alongside the white tablecloths and comfy leather seating. Hawksmoor’s private dining space is a glass doored, luxurious hideaway called The Temperance Room that sits to the side of the main large public dining room. There is an oval table with comfortable leather seating for a smart, dinner party feel. The team can arrange cocktails on arrival and groups have a choice of sharing menus to indulge in with optional wine pairings. For bigger groups, The Pass is also available as a semi-private dining area overlooking the kitchen pass.

Homage at WOOD
If you prefer your special occasions to be classy but also very cheesy, then Homage at fine dining restaurant WOOD could be just what you’re after. The beautiful mezzanine area currently acts as an homage to fromage with a high end cheese and wine matching experience. But for special occasions, you can book the whole thing out to enjoy in privacy. The Ivy
Ladies who lunch favourite The Ivy has three opulently decorated private dining rooms for hire. The Geisha Room is a gold and pink palace with a pink onyx bar, gold leaf ceiling, and crushed velvet chairs in both gold and pink. Striking Japanese themed artworks hang on the walls and there are floor to ceiling mirrors to help you get selfie-ready. There are canapé, tasting and sharing menus available in Geisha, as well as cocktails, wine and other beverages. The Dalton Room features a marble tiled floor and hanging gilt leaf pendants with vintage furniture, drapes and chandeliers and can be booked for breakfast, lunch or dinner for up to 20 guests. Kitten
Kitten is an upmarket Japanese izakaya-inspired restaurant at the foot of one of the glittering skyscrapers at Deansgate Square. It’s a beautifully decorated dining space in soft peaches and natural tones with lots of bamboo and natural fibres and a huge central Japanese pine tree. Separated from the main public dining area but a folding bamboo screen, the private dining room seats 20-40 depending on whether you want a Long boardroom style table or separate restaurant-style seating for your event. The menu here is largely sushi and sashimi based with some show-stopping dishes like whole sea bass.

Lucky Cat
Gordon Ramsay’s Lucky Cat in the former Jamie’s Italian space is one of the newest restaurants in Manchester. It has a huge main dining area with high ceilings and architectural features that hark back to its former life as a bank. In the basement, there is a former bank vault complete with metal deposit boxes in the walls which now serves as a private dining room. There is a long, sleek, glass topped table that seats up to 12 on plush, metallic printed chairs and colourful mood lighting. Two other private dining rooms upstairs have more of a classic feel with round tables, wooden panelled walls and large windows. These sit up to eight. You can also hire the whole restaurant if you so wish.

The Refuge
Want all the atmosphere, food and drink of the bustling Refuge restaurant at the Kimpton hotel but with a bit more privacy? The private dining room is a beautiful spot which boasts the same beautiful original features as the rest of the hotel like a feature fireplace and polished tiles. Its oval table has space for up to 10 guests to enjoy dinner. It can also be used as a business meeting room. The Kimpton is a stunning grade II listed Victorian building less than five minutes walk from Oxford Road station and the perfect space for your grand event.

Manchester contemporary Chinese restaurant Tattu’s private dining room is called The Parlour and it has its own entrance, bar and toilets. It features a long polished wood dining table with gold crushed velvet seats and decor that includes large Buddha statues, plants and a stylish chandelier style light fitting above the table. One-way glass offers complete privacy for the dining room with a view into the main restaurant. Guests can order from a variety of sharing menus featuring colourfully presented sashimi, dumplings and more.
