Manchester Youth Zone, the youth charity based in Harpurhey, North Manchester, is to embark on a fundraising campaign next week, with one of its key supporters set to match the donations made.
Manchester-founded Car Finance 247 will spearhead #247MatchWeek, from 7 to 13 October.
All funds raised over the week will be matched by the company, up to the value of £75,000, with businesses across Manchester being encouraged to get involved.
Reg Rix, CEO of Car Finance 247 said: “Our partnership with MYZ is central to our charitable strategy and we wanted to share more about this amazing place with our network of suppliers and partners, encouraging them to get involved too.
“We believe passionately in the Youth Zone’s work and can see the difference it makes every day, not only to the children and young people it supports, but also to our team.
“We wanted to increase awareness of Manchester Youth Zone, and we thought a Match funding campaign was a great way to encourage people to get involved in whatever way they can. We’ll be excited to see what ideas some of our partners come up with for #247MatchWeek.
“As an organisation we will be going big on our ideas too and sharing them – we want to provide inspiration and promote some healthy competition, all in the name of raising more funds.
“As a business, Car Finance 247’s purpose is to help people improve their everyday lives and all the team members take that commitment on board. Working with MYZ helps them extend this pledge into the community, to give back to the city where the company was founded, share their skills and experiences with young people, and bond with one another.
“Countless team members have returned from visits to the MYZ feeling more connected to their community and inspired to help the next generation. It’s a cause that unites us all and it’s now integral to our company culture, so it makes perfect sense we want to share it with our wider network. ”
Heather Etheridge, CEO of Manchester Youth Zone added: “Through the generous ongoing support from Car Finance 247, Manchester Youth Zone has empowered young people to develop new skills and raise their aspirations.
“The company has been instrumental in developing our employability programme, which is a dedicated programme that encourages young people to learn more about career opportunities available to them and provides them with valuable tools to help them prepare for a career.
“It is great that they are now helping us to spread the word about Manchester Youth Zone within their wider networks. We can’t wait to see what fundraising ideas they come up with during #247MatchWeek!
“Car Finance 247 is a great example of a local business that has grown significantly – started by entrepreneurial spirit. We know the team inspires our young people to open their minds to opportunities and we would love for other businesses to get involved.”
To celebrate and kick-off #247MatchWeek, Manchester Youth Zone is hosting MYZ5’s – a five-a-side tournament on Sunday 6 October from 11am – 4pm at the Youth Zone in Harpurhey on its all-weather football pitches. Teams of up to eight players can join for £250.
Events such as cake sales, sponsored walks, tough mudders races or company-wide pyjama days, or simply a donation are among those being suggested as possible ways to raise funds for the youth centre.
