‘Godless Girl’ is the first single to be taken from The Crookes’s debut album ‘Chasing After Ghosts’ (out 28th March). Inspired by an American news photograph from the 1970s. “The woman, toothless and bejewelled, had been given the nick name The Godless Girl because of the crimes she had committed,” they say. “There was something about the way she was smiling even in defeat that touched a nerve with us.” Jaunty, wistful indie pop from these Sheffield lads that should appeal to fans of The Smiths, Orange Juice and Richard Hawley.
