Guinness World Records has announced that Rumours, the miniature 80s-themed discotheque, is now officially the world’s smallest nightclub, smashing the previous record held by Miniscule of Sound.

“The world’s smallest nightclub is “Rumours”, which is a box measuring only 2.10 m (6 ft 8 in) high, 1.17 m (4 ft 10 in) wide and 1.78 m (5 ft 10 in) deep. It was created by Deborah Borrett and Lisa Williams (both UK) and was presented at the Liverpool Bold Street Festival in Liverpool, UK, on 26 September 2010.” Guinness.

With a Xenia X80A soundsystem sponsored by PROEL, Rumours set up for the big event on Bold Street in Liverpool for the street’s annual festival. Rumours will be part of the Bold Street festival again this year on 24 and 25 September.
Rumours was established in 2007 and has been pioneering the best in original and miniature nightclub fun touring festivals and clubs, hosting backstage parties and providing corporate entertainment across the UK and Europe. Even before breaking the record, Rumours had already appeared at some of Europe’s best events including Space Nightclub Ibiza, Cocoon, Circo Loco, Circus, Chibuku, Snowbombing, Isle of Wight Festival, RockNess and V festivals.

The club, a 6 ft x 4 ft resin structure, is transformed into a real nightclub with sequinned drapes, a miniature smoke machine, lights, soundsystem, 80s memorabilia and the best music the 80s had to offer.

Promoter and owner Deborah Borrett says “We smashed the previous world record by thirty four centimeters squared! In the world of miniature clubs, that’s a whole person on the dancefloor! I’m delighted. We’ve had some of the best times in Rumours but an enormous amount of hard work has gone into the club not to mention the actual record break.” She adds, “Rumours has a one hundred percent customer satisfaction record, every single person leaves with a smile on their face.”

Rumours will be hosting the garden area of the Strongbow Arena at both V Festival North and Creamfields as well as being part of The Beatles Week Quarrybank Event in Liverpool on 27 August 2011.
